Central Connecticut State Blue Devils vs. Northwestern Wildcats Game Thread

Loading Scores

Northwestern isn't wearing Under Armour yet, but they are tasked with protecting this house this afternoon in a matinee against the Blue Devils. No, not, you know, those Blue Devils, the ones that it would be majorly impressive if Northwestern beat, Central Connecticut State, the team who Northwestern has a pretty, pretty good chance of beating, but still has the best chance of losing out of the stretch of three games highlighted in the Northwestern non-conference cupcakes quiz the other day.

Things to watch for:

John Shurna's point total: It's not a question of whether he'll score a lot, but more whether he'll play long enough to score a lot. I'm keeping an eye on his scoring total considering he needs to average roughly 17 a game in order to become Northwestern's all-time leading scorer by the end of his career if Northwestern were to lose in the first round of the B1G tournament and not make a postseason tournament. Him getting pulled after about three minutes against Mississippi Valley State and struggling against Baylor hurt him in that category, but he dropped 20 against Texas Southern. NU fans want to see him hit the pine early after seeing him get hurt last year against Mount St. Mary's and not playing up to speed for a while, but it would be nice to see him score.

The Nick Fruendt show: Froo got a career high 21 against Mississippi Valley State. The offensively talented senior should get some more run today.

Nobody getting hurt: Alex Marcotullio has turf toe, so he'll probably sit, but the key is getting in and out and getting a W without anybody getting hurt.

This is the toughest game out of the three, but still should be an NU W. Comment along if you're watching or listening.
