NU used hot three point shooting to take an early 13 point lead, and appeared on their way to another blowout of Iowa, but the Hawkeyes wouldn't go away and ended up making it a game. Still, NU was able to hang on in the end, as Michael Thompson led the way with 16 points and a stellar 9 to 0 assist to turnover ratio.
The defense was porous as usual, and Davide Curletti was absolutely brutal in his 12 minutes, but there were some positives tonight, namely the excellent play of John Shurna, who finally seems fully recovered from his various injuries. Most importantly, NU finally got back in the win column, snapping the Gus Johnson curse. Not exactly a season-saving win, but any win feels great at this point.
