Kafka substituted in for Vick, handed off, drew a roughing the passer, and handed off for a TD. Not much to watch, but nice to hear Al Michaels say: "in comes Mike Kafka who played his college ball at ... Northwestern."
He needs to play keep away and score some points to preserve the victory for the eagles. He completed his first two (short) passes, and of course Michaels bring up Kafka's line in the Auburn game... Thanks Al. More to come after the game.
With 4:38 remaining, Kafka finds himself in a familiar situation - down 4 needing to go 94 yards for a TD to win the game. I expect the Eagles coaches to open up the playbook and make more downfield throws.
Kafka is now 4 for 4 finding Maclin for a huge gainer. He also is probably worried about leaving too much time on the clock. Collingsworth "I'm really impressed by Kafka ... the Falcons continue to blitz him and he is reading it and barbecuing them."
At the 2 min warning, Kafka still has a 100% completion percentage, driving toward the Red Zone. HUGE 3rd Down upcoming.
Despite Kafka's Herculean efforts at QB, his nemesis (and teammate nonetheless) Jeremy Maclin thwarted a game winning drive. The Eagles apparently don't practice the Victory Right play because this didn't happen on the final play. Al Michael's must've said "Kafka played his football at Northwestern ... out of Northwestern" etc, 10 times.
