One Less Day Til Football, No. 78, Paul Jorgensen

Sure you guys are having fun with the offensive lineman portion of this countdown, huh? Anyway, I realized that I can't take any more days off from here on out considering the days I have to make up, so, don't expect me to.

No. 78, Paul Jorgensen, offensive tackle, sophomore

Who he be: The Jorg, as those closest to him probably don't call him, is a sophomore offensive tackle from DeWitt, Michigan, where he was a three-star recruit out of high school, and considered the 25th best tackle in the country by ESPN.com, earning offers from a bunch of schools including Stanford and Illinois. The 6-foot-6 lineman redshirted his first season in Evanston and saw some spot time as a backup right tackle as a redshirt freshman, which is pretty typical.

A Jorg Well Done: I generally write dumb things about these people's names, and for some reason, all I could think about with this relatively nondescript name was this Homestar cartoon that I somehow thought was really funny in eighth grade.

I can't really figure out why I found those Homestar cartoons so damn funny when I was 13 - I think we all did, didn't we? - but what scares me more is that somewhere out there in the corners of the internet, those dudes are probably still hammering out Strong Bad emails and 13-year-olds somewhere are religiously reading them. That scares me.

Paul Jorgensen's Wikipedia: He was a modestly unsuccessful boxer in the 50's. Wikipedia warns you not to confuse him with Danish bronze medal gymnast Poul Jørgensen, tho.

Looking forward: Jorg seems like a talented young lineman. Although the tackle spot seems to be Chuck Porcelli's this year, it's not inconceivable that Jorgensen could push him for that spot and he definitely looks like someone who will get playing time and start sometime down the line.
