I screwed something up in the post yesterday - I basically mixed up "middle" and "outside" mindlessly while writing about Damien Proby. Fixed it tho! Thanks, PUREwildcat, for calling me out.
No. 45, Collin Ellis, sophomore, linebacker
Who we be: Collin was a three-star recruit outta Louisiana - GEAUX WILDCATS - who might be the only athlete in world history to possess offers from Northwestern AND Northwestern State. The 6-foot-2, 225 pounder redshirted as a freshman, and made some nice contributions from the linebacker spot this year despite playing with a big ol' club-fer-hand after an injury in preseason forced him to put a cast over one of his hands. Clubby made his first start against Illinois, and responded well with a sack early in the game - good job, Clubby - and proceeded to start at one outside linebacker spot for the rest of the B1G slate over the somewhat ineffective Ben Johnson.
Signs Collin is really from Louisiana, via his player profile:
Q: My favorite food is:
A: Boiled Crawfish
Q: Name five favorite songs (and artist) on your iPod:
A: "Roll With Me" by Montgomery Gentry, "Guys Like Me" by Eric Church, "Homeboy" by Eric Church, "Those I've Loved" by Eric Church, "When It Rains" by Eli Young Band
Q: If I were not playing football, I would be:
A: Hunting or Fishing every day.
Sign Collin would probably play well if Northwestern needs to play USC, also via his player profile:
Q: If you could have a starring role in any film already made, which movie would you pick and why?
A: I would be Achilles in Troy. Because he's the dude. But I would juke out the arrow that hit his Achilles maybe with a spin move, or sweet SWAT team roll.
In all honesty, that's probably the best answer to one of these questions I'v seen thus far.
IS THERE NO ONE ELSE? IS THERE NO ONE ELSE?!?!!?!?!?
Looking forward: Collin might be an incumbent starter at one outside linebacker slot, but there's more than three talented linebackers this season for the Wildcats. Ellis should be able to retain that spot based on his play in camp. To make it clear from yesterday, I think the three starters will be Nwabuisi, Proby, and Ellis.
