Northwestern vs. Ohio State injury report: Sean McEvilly out, Venric Mark not listed

Stephen Lam

Northwestern loses its best defensive tackle, but gains Venric Mark, for sure. Although we don't know how he'll play, obviously.

Some bad news for Northwestern, as Sean McEvilly, previously considered to be day-to-day for Saturday's big matchup against Ohio State, is out and will not play.

This is an issue. McEvilly was out against Maine, and even the Black Bears gashed Northwestern up the middle. Ohio State will do worse. C.J. Robbins is listed as McEvilly's immediate backup, and presumably he and Will Hampton will see increased snap counts. McEvilly has been considered the best defensive tackle Northwestern has all season long, so, well, um, I am not pleased with this.

The great news is that Venric Mark is not listed at all. Not probable, not questionable, full go.

That doesn't say anything about how effective he'll be, but, in terms of gamesmanship, we shouldn't expect anything to be wrong with Venric Mark.

Jaylen Prater is out, but, you know, backup middle linebacker, so I ain't particularly worried in that department.
