Jacob Murray, a 2-star class of 2015 safety from Coppell, Tex., announced via Twitter Thursday that he has committed to Northwestern. According to 247 Sports, he did so during a campus visit after being recruited by running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Matt McPherson.
Murray held offers from Air Force, Nevada, North Texas and UT-San Antonio, but chose NU after reportedly visiting campus yesterday. He is Northwestern's 18th commitment in the class of 2015, and the second defensive back, joining four-star commit David Dowell.
Earlier in July, we wrote this about Northwestern's recruiting efforts in the defensive backfield:
NU has recruited well at defensive back in recent years, and has done so again this time around, especially with the commitment of Dowell. However, this could yet be one of the areas that Fitz looks to address with one of the final few scholarships.
Coach Pat Fitzgerald has been remarkably efficient in putting together this recruiting class. There could still be room for one or two for members, but it's not even August yet, and this class could already be complete.
