Michigan, a bunch, Northwestern, less

The Northwestern Wildcats got lambasted by the Michigan Wolverines. The game's still going, but that's academic.

What's Northwestern supposed to do, though?

The Wildcats were dominated in pretty much every facet of the game, and that's not exactly surprising. The Wildcats didn't hit shots and their offense looked stagnant. Meanwhile, Michigan beasted early and drilled pretty much every three they shot on their way to 51 points at the half. The lead was 20 points early, and got bigger and bigger. Even when they missed, they killed Northwestern on the boards.

Nothing out of the ordinary happened here. I've often said things after tough losses like "oh, man, a blowout loss would've been so much easier to take". I can confirm tonight that that's true. I expected a huge loss with Drew Crawford and Reggie Hearn out, and Michigan obliged. Trey Burke had double digits early against a team that had to resort to James Montgomery III early. And then there was extended garbage time.

We'll analyze more from an awful loss. I'll say this, though: this wasn't the worst-case scenario. There's road games against other tough teams on the schedule. If they look as disinterested and non-competitive as they did tonight, Bill Carmody will have some 'splainin to do.
