It's Friday night, ain't a damn thing funny

- Hat tip to macarthur31, who unlike me has ESPN Insider and found the following on the point guard recruit (John Loyd) I mentioned yesterday

Was MVP of the Beach Ball Classic, and has a scout grade of 90 on ESPN. 90 is considered to be immediate impact player.

"Loyd is a knock down three point shooter in the break as well off the catch from penetration. He uses side steps, quicks, and his strong frame to get into the paint and finish or attract defenders and dish. He is a crafty lay up shooter with good body control."

Color me intrigued. Either way, Northwestern badly needs a point guard in the near future, so hopefully they can land this kid.

- I capped off my first winless week since I started picking games, with Michigan awakening from their mid-season slumber and winning at Minnesota. I didn't see much of the game, as I was too busy checking out the season premiere of Survivor (and let me tell you, this promises to be the best season ever, highlighted by my girl Stephenie), but I am told Minnesota really stunk it up. A very costly loss for the Gophers' NCAA hopes, so Sunday's game in Evanston will be a match-up of two reeling teams. And for the first time all season, yours truly Loretta8 will be in attendance at Welsh-Ryan. My flight for Chicago leaves in a few hours, and I'll be spending my time there before basketball attempting to break the cash games at the Horseshoe, so unfortunately I will not be providing a preview. Once I return Monday, I will be providing a recap/trip report, so look forward to that. And if you're in Welsh-Ryan, look for the fat guy heckling Bill Carmody for his rotations; that's probably me.
