Wednesday Random Thoughts and Picks

- I found this YouTube video amusing, but I was even more amused by the rant against dumb comments in the right margin. I will never cease to be amazed at the stupidity of many internet commentators; thankfully SoP has thus far been mouth-breather free, but its only a matter of time.

- Lake The Posts has been going nuts on Twitter, linking to anything and everything Northwestern. I have no idea where he even finds most of this stuff; I'm pretty sure if LTP doesn't have a link to it, then it didn't happen. I've enjoyed all the stories, although FBC did not. As a side note, that Carmody pic on FBC's twitter gets me every time, well done.

- I nearly ended up retiring from picking Big Ten games last night, as Iowa seemed poised to cover and finally end my losing streak. With the Hawkeyes up 3 and just 13 seconds left, I posted the following:

if Michigan hits a three here and wins by more than 4 in overtime, I quit

Sure enough, DeShawn Sims hit a three to force overtime, and when Michigan hit 2 free throws with 5 seconds left to extend their lead to 5, things looked bleak. But then Cully Payne (God bless him) buried a 3-pointer at the buzzer for an all-time great backdoor cover. So the streak is over, and now it's time to go on a winning streak.

Purdue at Ohio State (-3), 5:30 PM central, BTN

This should be a great game between the two hottest teams in the Big Ten. Unfortunately for Ohio State, both William Buford and Jon Diebler are suffering from minor injuries. Both will probably play, but are unlikely to be at 100%. Combine that with the re-emergence of JaJuan Johnson, who is finally putting up 20 and 10 a night after struggling early in Big Ten play, and I see Purdue pulling this one out on the road.

Pick: Purdue

Overall record: 34-30-2
Northwestern games: 13-3
