Team #Purplecourt Gets its Wish (Kind of)

Dear Northwestern Athletics Department,

A few months ago, we the readers of Sippin' on Purple tried to convince your athletics department to paint its court purple. Well, a few days before the beginning of basketball season, I have good news and bad news for my readers.

The good news is that you listened.

The bad news is it wasn't quite in the way we intended it.

You see, where we wanted you to paint our basketball court purple, you went ahead and painted the outdoor tennis courts on Sheridan Road purple.

Now, don't get me wrong, this is a great start. We appreciate your dedication to the art of painting things classified as courts purple.

However, the attention is somewhat misguided. While it's great and all that the attendees at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center will have to deal with an obnoxiously colored playing surface, we had hoped to scald the retinae of a wider-reaching audience, such as whoever it is decides to turn into the Big Ten Network for things like Sunday's game against UT-Pan American.

To avoid further conclusion, I have made a list of types of courts we would like not like you to paint purple and courts we would like you to paint purple.

COURTS NOT TO PAINT PURPLE

Squash

Racquetball

Food

Appellate

Royal (such as the entourage of any monarch)

Supreme

Traffic

The People's

Margaret

Noyes (that little sidestreet of Noyes St. next to D&D's leading to the awkward intersection of Noyes St. and Noyes Ct.) (actually, go ahead and paint this purple)

COURTS TO PAINT PURPLE

The basketball one at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

So in conclusion, keep painting things purple, but make them other things.

Thanks,

Team #Purplecourt

P.S. PAINT YOUR BASKETBALL COURT PURPLE PLEASE IT WILL BE SO UGLY AND WE'LL ALL LIKE IT.
