Teddy Greenstein: Northwestern "Not Interested" in CBI

So, scratch that post I wrote earlier about NU potentially going to the CBI. If Teddy Greenstein is to be believed (hint: he is) NU will either accept a bid to the NIT or do nothing.

In 140 characters:

NU AD Jim Phillips pushing hard for NIT bid, treating it like bowl game. And, thankfully, NU not interested in CBI. Its NIT or bust.

So forget the post/poll I put up earlier. Intriguing, but it seems like the right decision. As noted, NU is pretty adamant to talk about any postseason opportunities: see the banner that brags about NU's NIT appearances - so I sort of expected them to not do this. But NU is acting like a major conference school and having dignity.

Now, we wait to hear what happens as we sweat it out on the NIT bubble. The official show is at 8 on ESPNU - in previous years, info as to NU's fate has leaked out ahead of time, I'll be here reloading all my things all the time to see what's going on with the Cats and I'll keep you updated.

On that front, predictor NIT-ology updated their page this afternoon to include the Cats, citing a gut feeling. The Bracket Project will update after the NCAA brackets come out, and John Templon's final prediction left Northwestern out.
