The Wildcats demolished Creighton, 89-63, in their first-round NIT matchup at Welsh-Ryan Arena and now go on to meet Alabama in the second round.
Just about everybody on the NU roster got in on the action, as all nine Wildcats that played scored at least one basket. Kendall Hackney led the way with 21 points, and Amy Jaescke got a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards. Meisha Reed also chipped in 16 points.
I didn't get to watch the game, as NU's streaming video didn't work with my Gogo In-Flight Internet (I'm blogging from 30,000 feet!), so I don't have a lot to say, but the score pretty much speaks for itself.
Given how the NIT bracket looks, the Wildcats may very well will indeed get another home game for the second-round matchup against Alabama, which upset Memphis, 80-69. I'll update once we know a time and location. EDIT: Game is Sunday, 2 p.m. Wildcat Time, at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
