Northwestern to play at Georgia Tech in 2011 ACC/Big Ten Challenge

14

Georgia Tech will get another crack at NU after getting blown out in Evanston during last year's challenge. The Yellow Jackets lost their best player Iman Shumpert to early entry to the NBA, and will still be in rebuilding mode after finally firing coach Paul Hewitt and hiring Dayton's Brian Gregory to replace him. NU will likely be slight favorites, but Georgia Tech isn't an ideal opponent. A NU win here likely won't be a win over an NCAA tournament team, and given the other challenge match-ups that day, the game appears destined to be relegated to ESPNU. Jim Phillips and Bill Carmody will have to look elsewhere to get the program any national exposure during non-conference play.
