Safety Dwight White Jr. (Cypress, Tex., Cy-Fair) Commits to Northwestern

It's official from the real reporters over at Rivals and Scout (where Chris Emma has done a pretty spectacular job since arriving of quickly throwing up stories, frequently free ones, about recruiting news), so, there it goes. NU has commit No. 13, a safety from the Houston area, another name in a surprising hotline to the hometown of Purple Drank. (A quick google search reveals Cy-Fair to be the same school that former NU running back Omar Conteh attended, so there's that.)

White, whose name rhymes, but does not mean he is related to former Steeler Dwight White, hasn't exactly been the most scouted recruit - he doesn't have any FBS offers, according to Rivals, his only look besides the Cats thus far is from Southeastern Louisiana, Scout doesn't report him as having any offers besides Northwestern - so it's not the biggest land in school history, as the Cats were pretty much competing against themselves.

Northwestern still has a lot of spots to fill and will be able to sign over 20 players in this class, so there's still work to be done. White is only the team's fourth defensive commit - a lot of work thus far on O-Line - it wouldn't be surprising to see a lot more being done on that side of the ball, where the team still has multiple offers out to defensive linemen and backs.
