Per the Twitter feed of Chris Emma from Scout.com, Sanjay Lumpkin called Bill Carmody this morning to commit to Northwestern. He will enroll in the fall of 2012.
Lumpkin is a 6'6", 175 pound guard from Wayzata, Minnesota who was mostly being recruited by mid-majors (Harvard, Princeton and Lehigh were all in the mix, the kid must be smart) but did get at least cursory interest from Illinois, Washington State and Stanford.
Here's a quick scouting report from ESPN:
Lumpkin is a very good athlete that can finish on the break and rebound. He is a terrific defender on or away from the ball and capable of defending all three perimeter positions. He must get stronger and continue to develop his ball skills and jumper but has great upside.
Northwestern needs all the help they can get defensively, so while this kid may not be a blue-chip recruit, he should be able to contribute immediately on the defensive end.
