Not a lotta Northwestern-y stuff out there, but let's take a look at what we do have.
**BREAKING** PAT FITZGERALD REFERENCES CALL ME MAYBE IN INTERVIEW **BREAKING**: Perhaps Carly Rae Jepsen is two or three fads ago, but its still highly noteworthy that Fitz referenced "Call Me Maybe" in his interview about whether or not MarQueis Gray is going to play for Minnesota. (It's hidden in a cool article about Tony Jones.)
This completely unnecessary reference is obviously - OBVIOUSLY - a sign that Fitz has not yet forgotten the horrific Call Me Maybe scandal of this summer, where Willie the Wildcat was not invited to participate in a video dancing along to Carly Rae Jepsen's pop smash with other Big Ten mascots - a video where Goldy the Gopher was prominently featured, taking his shirt off to go swimming with some co-eds. In case you think we forgot, Big Ten teams: we remember. We remember it well. Northwestern and Purdue will play in the Big Ten championship game, and Carly Rae Jepsen will perform at halftime. Mark my words.
Waving flag: Pat Fitzgerald confirmed that those flags on the sidelines are to hide signals from opposing coaches. Really high-tech stuff! I love this stupid type of thing, to be honest.
Chet's "heys": Hilarity once again ensued in the Hanks family yesterday when Chet Haze accidentally revealed his alleged Reddit handle, then denied the handle was his, while simultaneously using Reddit to post about how one can delete all of one's Reddit posts and history. (Most of them are comments telling naked girls they look good.) Chet's inability to be self-aware about anything continues to amaze me, and as such I will continue to make fun of him on the internet even though he's just a dumb college kid like I was/still am, kind of.
Shurnupdate: John Shurna plays in his first preseason game tonight, and with Rasheed Wallace, Marcus Camby, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Smith, and James White not playing, he'll get a large lump of minutes. I'll be watching!
