Northwestern NCAA Tournament Bracketology Update, March 2 2012

Every day, Sippin' on Purple will be taking an updated roundup and look at Northwestern's chances of making the NCAA Tournament. We promise not to jinx it.

Maybe we did jinx it.

Bracket Matrix: 11.7, third-to-last team in

Kenpom: 53 (down from 52 yesterday)

RPI: 55, down from 52 yesterday

Sagarin: 51, same as yesterday

Big Ten standings: Eighth, first-round matchup Illinois (same as yesterday)

Consensus, in-or-out: Too close to call.

Feeling: #beatiowa. Nothing that important happened yesterday, but we need that win tomorrow. We need it to our very souls. I still firmly believe that a win tomorrow and a first-round win in the Big Ten tournament has this team over 50 percent to make the tournament, even with bid thievery. (Maybe I'm wrong.) So, let's do that. Please. I sorta need it.

Bracketology roundup: Jerry Palm still has Northwestern in after the loss to Ohio State, as the third to last team in, still playing in Dayton. Mike Huguenin of Yahoo bumped NU from his latest projection, though.
