This dumb series: now on weekends!
No. 74, Chuck Porcelli, Senior, Offensive Tackle
Who he be: Chuck is a senior offensive lineman from Oak Brook who has spent the majority of his NU career as a backup offensive tackle. Such things will happen when a team has someone as good at left tackle as Al Netter. However, he has gotten his opportunity t contribute in a reserve role, appearing in 22 games over the past two seasons including every game last year.
OL/DJ: I might be wrong, but I'm pretty certain Porcelli is the only active NU football player to perform at Dillo Day in school history. He and recently graduated defensive tackle Niko Mafuli have a DJ group, Lookin Cute Feelin Cute, that they tweet about pretty heavily. They won the DJ competition to play at Dillo Day, but of course I was way too drunk and didn't see it, along with everybody who wasn't Big Boi or whoever was performing when I met up with somebody at the beer tent.
Looking forward: Porcelli's senior year looks like the one where he'll take a starting role, as the left tackle spot vacated by Al Netter should belong to Patrick Ward, meaning the right tackle spot vacated by Ward will probably be Porcelli's. He's got the size for the gig - 6-foot-7, 315 pounds - the question will be whether he'll be able to block speedy defensive ends from getting around him and to Kain Colter.
