It's Fitz days til football season! Woo! The non-conference basketball schedule comes out today, and we'll obviously be all over discussing how depressing Northwestern's 2012-2013 RPI will be.

No. 51, Jaylen Prater, Freshman, Linebacker

Who he be: Jaylen is a two-star recruit out of Hamden, Ohio, who chose Northwestern over Indiana, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Toledo. Although his name is Jaylen Prater, he is, surprisingly, white, putting him alongside Nate and Quentin Williams as most surprising Caucasians in our collective Northwestern football memory. (The reverse, of course, is Kain Colter.

Los zapatos gigantes: Previous No. 51's to play linebacker: Bryce McNaul, who was the guy who more or less kept Northwestern from allowing 90 points a game the past few years, and Pat Fitzgerald, who, um, you know, um, was good at football for some time and now is coaching someplace, I believe.

People named "Prater" on Northwestern's football power rankings: No. 1: Kyle Prater

No. 2: Jaylen Prater

Looking forward: I can't recall a true freshman breaking into the rotation at linebacker, and it seems even less likely this year, especially with Prater, a two-star recruit. There's always four years after that, though, Jaylen.
