Three-Star SG Nate Taphorn (Pekin, Ill.) Commits To Northwestern

And Northwestern's class of 2013 has another member to join Jaren Sina: Nate Taphorn from Pekin, Illinois - and player for the feeder AAU Illinois Wolves, which appears to be somewhat of a feeder to Northwestern - has decided to hop on board with the Wildcats.

Here's what we know about Taphorn: he's a 6-foot-7 shooter who had offers from Boston College, Creighton, Colorado, and others. He's rail thin - 175 pounds! 6-foot-7 and 175 pounds! - and looks to be just about the same age as John Shurna, if not seven or eight years younger. Suffice it to say, he's very much in the Northwestern mold under Bill Carmody.

it's tough to say what will become of Taphorn - or Sina, or anybody, really, I'm not even sure why anybody reads anything about anything - but it's another haul for Carmody in the wake of Milos Kostic no longer being in the class of 2013. So far as I can tell, there will still be two more spots open - by my count, there's Drew Crawford, Alex Marcotullio, Reggie Hearn, and Jared Swopshire needing replacement - in that class.

UPDATE: Chris Emma of Scout has this to say after seeing what I had to say, and he actually knows what he's talking about.
