Nwabuisi named to watch list
Preseason award lists mean virtually nothing in college football, as they don't have any impact on who can receive the award at the end of the season and there are so many players on each list. However, it's a nice way to give early recognition to players.
Northwestern linebacker David Nwabuisi landed on watch list for the Butkus Award — given to the top linebacker nationwide — along with 51 other players. The senior had 84 tackles last season, good for third on the team, and 8.5 tackles for loss.

NBA Summer League
Three games into the NBA Summer League, John Shurna has yet to have a big game for the Atlanta Hawks, as he is averaging 3.7 points per game and 18.7 minutes per game in there total contests. He has started each game and scored 5 points in 21 minutes against Washington and 6 points in 24 minutes against San Antonio, but dropped off in last night's game against the Celtics, finishing with no points in just 11 minutes of playing time.
Most of Shurna's shots are coming from beyond the arc, which is a good strategy for him because establishing himself as an elite three-point shooter is likely the only way he can make an NBA roster. However, he has to find a way to get more shots in order to stand out more to scouts.
