One Less Day Til Football Season, No. 29, Stephen Buckley

29! That's how many numbers you could count if you had six hands, but you had a minor logging accident as a child and lost your ring finger on hand No. 5. Your dad shouldn't have been letting you go logging at that age anyway, although then again, he did have 10 hands. Your mom had two - that's why you had six. It's an average. What are we talking about again?

No. 29, Stephen Buckley, freshman, running back

Who he be: Stephen was a two-star recruit outta Forney, Texas, where he had offers to schools like Washington State, Kansas State, Navy, Air Force, and others. He played QB in an offense that saw the QB run as much, if not more than throw, but at 6-foot-nothin with a 4.48 40, he was recruited as a running back. Of course, he has a high school highlights Youtube video where he looks dominant, but at this point in the "going through the Northwestern roster" process, I think everybody does, including me.

Nice choice of "Til I Collapse", one of the four songs allowed to pump people up at sporting events. Here's the order of my list that it's in: Reggie, Jay-Z, Tupac and Biggie, Andre from Outkast, Kurupt, Nas, and then me.

Dearly Departed: Mike Trumpy wore No. 29 last year before switching to No. 32, but before him, it was Omar Conteh, best known for the games he started when Tyrell Sutton was out and his one line in Mo Greene's NU Wildcats anthem, inspiring us all to "go far like O-Mar... Conteh", which didn't really work that well.

No Jeff Buckley songs: However, I will tell you that there was an Australian rules football player named Stephen Buckley.

Looking forward: Maybe he'll play running back someday! But not right now :(
