Matt Grevers might already have one gold and one silver, but he's not done yet: he still has to participate on the American squad in the 4x100 medley, where he will swim the 100 meter backstroke.
Grevers won a gold in that event four years ago in Beijing, but similar to the way he won silver in the 4x100 backstroke, he didn't swim in the final: he swam in heats, and won a medal when the final squad, featuring Aaron Peirsol doing backstroke, won gold. This time around, Grevers didn't participate in the heats, but will participate in tomorrow's race alongside Michael Phelps, Brendan Hansen, and Nathan Adrian. Between those three, the team has two people who won gold medals in their events in Grevers and Adrian, Phelps, who, you might have heard, is good at swimming, and also swam the fastest leg in the 4x100 freestyle relay, and Hansen, who took bronze in breaststroke. Oh, and the USA team qualified fastest in the prelims. Suffice it to say, 'Murica is the favorite, and Grevers has a pretty good chance of getting more gold.
Anyway, the race will stream tomorrow at 3:27 p.m. and be shown live way later by NBC in primetime. Like last time, we'll be here to talk about it and stuff and comment on how awesome it was. Since it doesn't make sense to put up a live thread for something that's four minutes long, like I did last time in something less than a minute long, I won't, so comment here and I'll have an update as soon as we have a result.
