But one time a year does Northwestern get to play a team from the Football Championship Subdivision, and we cherish it greatly, because it means Northwestern will kinda sorta probably win. (Except for the time we played New Hampshire a few years ago, but whatevs.)

Will Northwestern go 4-0 against the Coyotes? Well, probably, but whatever. Hit the jump for predictions.

The ‘Cats get a comfortable lead early behind a strong dose of Mike Trumpy and Venric Mark on the ground followed by Coach Fitz' deciding to rest Kain Colter and Trevor Siemian for the rest of the game. Redshirt Freshman Zack Oliver then comes in and airs it out for 480 yards passing with 6 TDs sparking a further QB controversy, but Oliver then decides to transfer to USC after being offered a $26 million dollar contract through his senior year only to lose out the starting job to a freshman named Russell Wilson or something like that. Ok, maybe it won't quite play out like that but Northwestern wins there first easy one of the season against the FCS opponent.

Final Score: Northwestern, 41-13

Northwestern comes out of the gate hot, scoring at least 28 in the first half. South Dakota manages some big plays in the second half, but I'm paying more attention to Penn State-Temple by the time they pass 10 points.

Final Score: Northwestern 49-13.

So for my prediction, I googled up "cats vs. coyotes" hoping to find some humorous photo. But it turns out that in encounters between cats and coyotes, the cats don't ever come out on the good end of things. So no funny picture of a cat chasing away a coyote to illustrate that this should be a laugher of a game. I expect a workmanlike win for NU, with Fitz not showing off anything new in the playbook. No need to reveal any trick plays or funky formations against an FCS team, with conference play beginning next week. But when all is said and done, I'm pretty sure this game will not settle the QB Kain-Trevor-sy.

Final score: Northwestern, 35-14

No offense to South Dakota, but this game shouldn't be close. Kain Colter, Venric Mark, and Mike Trumpy absolutely gash the Coyotes on the ground, Trevor Siemian leads a couple of TD drives, and Zack Oliver plays the fourth quarter while Northwestern's defense does what it needs to do.

Final score: Northwestern, 42-10
