Northwestern tailback Stephen Buckley tore multiple ligaments, suffered dislocation in knee

Northwestern redshirt freshman tailback Stephen Buckley suffered a dislocated knee and tears to his MCL, PCL and meniscus in his left knee when he was tackled by Nebraska safety Corey Cooper in the first quarter of the Wildcats’ Nov. 2 game in Lincoln, InsideNu has learned.

Buckley underwent surgery in early November and is expected to go through approximately nine months of rehabilitation before returning to football activity.

The Forney, Texas, native rushed 50 times for 265 yards and a touchdown this season and had seen an uptick in playing time with senior tailback Venric Mark missing time due to a lower-body injury.

Buckley logged a career high 99 yards on 17 carries against Iowa the week before being carted off with the injury at Memorial Stadium.
