The 2014 recruiting class won't officially wrap up until National Signing Day in February. However, Northwester's class is nearing completion. There's just one payer that the Wildcats are really left to wait on: 4-star corner Parrker Westphal.
Westphal, a consensus top 200 recruit, will be picking between Northwestern and Vanderbilt, and he plans to decide within the next two weeks. He can't wait much longer than that, since he plans to enroll in college on January 6 (for what it's worth, both NU and Vanderbilt both start school on that date, so no hint there).
Today might be the final page in Westphal's recruitment, as he is scheduled to have an in-home visit with Vanderbilt coach James Franklin, according to 247 Sports. This past weekend, Westphal was on NU's campus for an official visit that he said went well. NU has been considered Westphal's leader for awhile now, but recently, two 247 experts picked him to land at Vanderbilt — could be something, could be nothing.
Something else to file under "could be something, could be nothing," NU recruit Solomon Vault posted a picture of NU commits this weekend and Westphal was in it:

This is recruiting. Crazy things happen. My suggestion: don't let a kid's decision make or break your day. And don't tweet at him. That can only cause trouble.
- Another player to watch at the end of the class is safety Khari Blasingame. He took an official to NU last weekend, as well, and he's nearing a decision date. The Wildcats are believed to want 15 players in this class, so Westphal and Blasingame could be the final two commits. 247's Steve Wiltfong has more on Blasingame's visit.
- Moving on to 2015, the Wildcats are starting to figure out who they want to offer. One of them, Equanimeous St. Brown, boasts a 3.9 GPA and speaks three languages. The wide receiver recruit already has some Pac-12 offers and could add Oregon to that list. However, he likes NU and thinks he could fit in there:
“They said they need a big receiver on the wide side of the field to match some of the bigger corners,” he said.
- This is a big recruiting week for NU and for the rest of the country. Check out a list of the Wildcats' recent offers at 247.
