Never-Made-the-Tourney, March 12: Just Bethune-Cookman, y'all!

After the Summit League was a bummer, there's only one Tuesday never-made-the-tourney team. I'm so sad inside. I hate you, Summit League.

Monday's Never-Made-The-Tourney action

MAC Tournament

The Bulls are still running: Kyle Randall of Central Michigan nailed a three to send Buffalo's first-round into overtime, but Javon McCrea got the job done there, scoring six of his 21 points in the extra session of a game that was tight all the way, as Buffalo won, 74-72.

MEAC Tournament

Apparently, Deven Williams of Savannah State really hates Maryland-Eastern Shore. He had 21 in the regular season finale against them, then a career high, then drilled six-of-seven threes in his team's first-round matchup against the Hawks in a 59-44 win, ending one team's Never-Made-The-Tourney hopes and keeping another's running. Maryland-Eastern Shore finished the year 2-24, which, yikes.

Summit League Tournament

What in the balls is up with all these never-made-the-tourney teams losing in semifinals? IPFW got out to a 10-0 start over Nate Wolters and SDSU, then the Jackrabbits went 7-for-10 from three in the second half, and, well, game over.

In the other semi, North Dakota State held WIU to just 43 points, with Ceola Clark III - the team's best player - suffering an injury that will sadly end his career.

And yes, you just noticed that South Dakota State and North Dakota State are playing in the Summit League final. FOR ALL THE DAKOTA STATES.

MEAC Tournament

Only one game. Woah.

4 p.m.: No. 8 Bethune Cookman vs. No. 9 Coppin State: Good news! Bethune-Cookman had a better regular season record and is way favored on Kenpom. The bad? They lost the only game against Coppin State - which was also the regular season finale and part of a season-ending three-game losing streak. Michael Murray had 16 points and 14 boards for the Eagles - Coppin State is the Eagles, aka the team that has made the tourney - in that win.
