Chris Collins is the first confirmed interviewee for the Northwestern vacancy per Teddy Greenstein, while Jeff Goodman of CBS says that Collins to the Cats is "all but done".

Duke assistant Chris Collins' status as the frontrunner for the vacant Northwestern head coaching position gets stronger and stronger by the day, and today, he's the first candidate to reportedly confirmed to be interviewing for the job.

Teddy Greenstein's article for the Tribune covers the NU coaching search, and as always, in a world filled with speculation, rumors, and general hopelessness, he actually provides insight: Greenstein cites sources that indicate Chris Collins is still, you know, interested in the job - as he had reported earlier - but adds more: that Mike Krzyzewski is excited for his assistant to have a head coaching job, and that Collins will interview next week. That would fit into Duke's NCAA Tournament schedule, even if they do advance to the Sweet 16.

Greenstein also talks about Bryce Drew, but merely as a that Northwestern is not interested in fellow Duke assistant Jeff Capel. Oh, and earlier in the day, Jeff Goodman talked about the Northwestern gig on the CBS podcast (around the 27 minute mark)

UPDATE: Greenstein adds that Collins is the only interview Northwestern has set up right now.
