Blake Hance Commits to Northwestern

Update: Full story analyzing Hance's commitment — the significance and how he fits in.

------------------------------------

Northwestern picked up its tenth verbal commitment for the class of 2014 today with the commitment of offensive tackle Blake Hance. Hance had just picked up an NU offer this week, and while he was recruited by schools as both a tight end and an offensive lineman, he will join the Wildcats as an offensive tackle. He joins offensive tackle recruit Tommy Doles.

Hance told InsideNU yesterday that he had been "wanting (an NU offer) for a long time." He also praised NU's academics.

“The academics are really key,” he said. “I feel like I have pretty strong relationships with the coaches.”

Hance also had offers from Nebraska, Missouri and Illinois, among others. We'll have more reaction on his commitment this afternoon.
