Northwestern Men’s Basketball announces plans for preseason events

EVANSTON, Ill. — The Northwestern men’s basketball program will host a preseason scrimmage and meet-the-team event, according to assistant coach Patrick Baldwin. Baldwin addressed a crowd at Wildcat Alley—a Northwestern-sponsored tailgate—before the Northwestern football team’s game against Maine on Saturday.

The events will take place on Oct. 5, prior to the football team’s game against Ohio State with the scrimmage  scheduled for 3:15 pm at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

"If you have an opportunity get here before the football game and watch our guys scrimmage, please come out," Baldwin said. "It will be exciting. You'll get an opportunity to see Coach [Chris] Collins and see our guys in full gear."

This is the first time Northwestern men’s basketball has done a preseason-hype event since 2010.

The program opens the season with an exhibition when Lewis University comes to Evanston on Nov. 6.
