Northwestern plays Michigan in basketball!

Should be bloodshed, but not as much as the last time.

USA TODAY Sports

Wheeeeee! I'm obligated to say something when Northwestern plays a basketball game!

The good news about Northwestern playing Michigan is that these aren't the Wolverine worldbeaters that made the championship game last year. Trey Burke is gone. Tim Hardaway Jr. is gone. Even within this year, Mitch McGary is out after back surgery and Glenn Robinson III is dealing with ankle issues.

The bad news is they are still, by all accounts, much better than Northwestern. They beat Stanford and Minnesota and nearly beat Arizona, which pretty much nobody else in the country can say. Their lone bad loss was to Charlotte in an early season tournament by two points on a buzzer-beater. They've stuck close with everybody they've played, including Duke and Arizona and Iowa State.

Even if Michigan is at its most dinged up, they should be able to somewhat comfortably shellack the Wildcats. All Stauskas everything.

But we're still gonna watch this stupid thing, at least until our job necessitates we switch over to football.
