Northwestern vs. Minnesota Gamethread

The 'Cats and Gophers are set to square off at TFC Bank Stadium. Come talk about it with us!

David Banks

If we would have told you just a mere month ago that Northwestern and Minnesota would be the biggest Big Ten matchup of the day, you would have called us crazy. Well, although you may still call us crazy, we would have been right. The Wildcats and Gophers are the two top teams in the Big Ten's West division.

Both team's feature some solid defense. Minnesota's defense could be considered to be on the precipice of "elite," and Northwestern's has been one of the best in the Big Ten over the past few weeks.

On offense, Minnesota is a run-first team. Running out of a pro-style offense, senior running back David Cobb is one of the top backs in the country and is a load to bring down. Northwestern's offensive attack is a little more balanced with Trevor Siemian under center. The senior quarterback played pretty well against Wisconsin, especially with the help of the running game and freshman Justin Jackson.

This should be a pretty low-scoring affair so if you get bored watching the defenses go at it, come spend time with us here.
