The Wildcats are down in sunny Cancun, Mexico for a Thanksgiving tournament

Dave Sobolewski (davesobo3)

The Cancun Challenge is commonly known as the the men's and women's college hoops Thanksgiving tournament played in a ballroom-turned-basketball-arena in the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. Just check out this post from Northwestern's Facebook page:

The tournament is literally played in a convention center. Despite that wackiness, there are games to be played.

FIRST OPPONENT: Miami (Ohio) (2-1)

TV: Tuesday, Nov. 25, 8:30 p.m. CT, CBS Sports Network

RADIO: 720 WGN

KENPOM PREDICTION: Northwestern wins 62-56

If Northwestern wins...

OPPONENT: Winner of Virgina Tech (2-1) and Northern Iowa (4-0)

TV: Wednesday, Nov. 26, 8:30 p.m. CT, CBS Sports Network

RADIO: 87.7 The Game

If Northwestern loses...

OPPONENT: Loser of Virgina Tech (2-1) and Northern Iowa (4-0)

TV: Wednesday, Nov. 26, 6:00 p.m. CT, CBS Sports Network

RADIO: 87.7 The Game

Barring upsets, Northwestern and Northern Iowa should both advance, setting up what would be Northwestern's second-toughest matchup of the non-conference aside from a road game at Butler. The Panthers are a really solid offensive team and are led by Seth Tuttle who is scoring 17 points per game this season with an effective field goal percentage of 79 percent, good enough for 22nd-best in the nation.

Sure the games are important, but let's take check in on what the Wildcats are doing in beautiful Cancun ahead of their first-round matchup against Miami (Ohio), via social media.

Let's check in on what the 'Cats are up to down South of the border.

This basically looks like a family vacation with Johnnie Vassar and Scottie Lindsey racing from one end of the pool to another and Gavin Skelly celebrating in pool volleyball.

This team just looks like a bunch of college kids having some good, clean Mexican fun while playing volleyball with two young kids looking on.

Next, we have a picture of team captain Dave Sobolewski.

Roughing it. #B1gCats #Northwestern @davesobo3

Sobolewski's sporting the Northwestern-sponsored hater-blockers. No one is getting in the senior point guard's way in Cancun. Nobody. Watch out Miami (Ohio), Virginia Tech and Northern Iowa, Sobo's coming for you.

The artist known as @davesobo3, then, returns the favor with this gem.

Enjoying México with the fellas

Looks pretty nice there, so let's check out the weather in Cancun.

And now let's compare that to beautiful Evanston.

Basically, Dave Sobolewski has to keep his shades on. Cancun's on fire. And the only thing raining will be threes.
