The Northwestern Wildcats play the Minnesota Golden Gophers in basketball! Fun fact! The Northwestern Wildcats have already beaten the Minnesota Golden Gophers in basketball! Why do they even bother playing this game?

Well, quite frankly, I have no idea. This is an outrage. Jim Delany will rue the day he questioned the veracity of sports events by allowing the same two teams to play another sports event, as if the first one had never happened.

"But Rodger," you say, "this happens literally every year in basketball with the vast majority of Big Ten teams. Why only now are you taking guff?"

We've put up with this for too long. Did Breakin' really need a Breakin' 2? Did Step Up really need a Step Up 2: The Streets? Did The Godfather 2 really need a The Godfather 3? Northwestern-Minnesota was an instant classic, and this game puts that legacy to shame.
