What you should know

Before I get into what you should know, surely you already know that Hall is the brother of rising Northwestern senior nickelback Jimmy Hall. Nate had offers from a host of Mid American Conference schools and Pittsburgh (he also drew interest from Michigan), but picked Northwestern less than a day after it offered him. Wildcats coaches had been recruiting Hall for more than a year, but only offered him after he played well at a July camp in Evanston.

Hall played on both sides of the ball for Sylvania Southview (OH), but he's expected to play outside linebacker for Northwestern. Hall is considered an above-average athlete for his size with good ball skills. The Wildcats almost certainly will not use him in his freshman season, because they have plenty of depth at the position Hall is projected to play.

While not one of the more highly touted players in Northwestern’s 2014 class, Hall is a promising talent who should help the Wildcats’ defense in a couple of years. If his stint in college follows the arc of his brother’s, it could be a while before Hall makes a big impact.

Quotable

"The coaching staff at Northwestern is great, they're all good people," Hall told Rivals.com last June. "I've known them since eighth grade because my brother plays for Northwestern. And academically, the school is second to none, in the Big Ten and in the nation.”
