What You Should Know
The Bergen Catholic-to-Northwestern pipeline is alive and well, thanks in part to Cameron Queiro. The three-star linebacker was the second recruit of the Wildcats' 2014 class, and it didn't take much to get him on board. Queiro's brother, Kyle, is currently a freshman safety for NU, and before Cameron committed, he said his mom already considered him a Wildcat.
After he committed, Queiro turned into one of NU's best recruiters, and he convinced teammate Garrett Dickerson — a four-star tight end/defensive end — to choose the Wildcats over Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Stanford, among others.
“I’m just doing my best to upgrade our class,” he told InsideNU earlier this year. “We can use [Dickerson's] help, and I can guarantee we will be in the Rose Bowl in a few years.”
Queiro is a good player in his own right. While he was always high on the Wilcdats, he also received offers from Pittsburgh and Vanderbilt, and he should be a solid addition to an impressive young group of NU linebackers.
Quotable
From an InsideNU story on his commitment: Before long, Cameron was on Northwestern’s campus for an unofficial visit, a trip he called “one of the best weekends of my life.”
