Jordan Thompson commits to Northwestern over Notre Dame, others

Northwestern picked up its ninth commitment of the 2015 recruiting class today, with a pledge from three-star defensive tackle Jordan Thompson.

Thompson, a product of La Salle High School in Cincinnati, picked the Wildcats over Duke, Michigan State, Notre Dame and a host of others. According to 247's Steve Wiltfong, Thompson had a very good visit with NU in April, and he was also in Evanston for a game last fall. He recapped that visit with Wiltfong:

“I know it’s a very prestigious school for academics,” he said. “I know if a guy goes into a certain area, he’ll graduate with that degree. I liked the campus, it kind of reminded me of LaSalle. I got that hometown feeling like everyone is family up there. It’s a community there. I really like the coaches and I feel it would be a really nice place to go to.”

Thompson ranks as the 42nd defensive tackle nationally in the 247 Composite Ratings. Northwestern now ranks 20th nationally and third in the Big Ten for the 2015 class, according to 247. Check out our recent recruiting update to see which other players could commit soon, and as always, keep an eye on our 2015 recruiting board.
