Pregame Notes: Northwestern vs. Cal

It's almost time for football! Here are our pregame notes.

- Dwight White is out for the game. No explanation. He wasn't expected to play a ton, but this probably means we see more of Keith Watkins and Marcus McShepard than expected.

- The forecast now says no rain! Though it's incredibly hot and humid here at Ryan Field. Also a pretty strong wind blowing Northeast. It will be interesting to see how that impacts the passing game. Will Cal be winning to run? Will NU run a lot and throw short passes to let Vault/Jackson/Shuler create? A lot of unknowns, but it should be exciting.

- NU is in its purple jerseys, black pants and purple helmets today. Cal is in white with blue helmets.

- Cal has three former NU commits on its depth chart. Ray Davison is a starting linebacker, while Hamilton Anoa'i is a third-string linebacker and Noah Westerfield is a third-string defensive end.

- The student section is on the East Side this year to make Ryan Field look better for the TV cameras.

- Who's your breakout player today? I've got Vault, Jackson or Shuler. Treyvon Green should also have a good day against this Cal run defense.

- Make sure to stay on the gamethread all day. We'll have constant chatter and will be posting GIFs throughout the game.
