Basketball season is closer than you may think. Northwestern will host an open scrimmage at Welsh-Ryan Arena Saturday, Oct. 18, before the football team hosts Nebraska that day.

It will be the first chance for fans to see Welsh-Ryan's new court and videoboards, as well as NU's big freshmen class together on the hardwood.

The 'Cats will take the floor for warm-ups around 2:30 P.M. They will play in a scrimmage and participate in on-court activities with fans. Collins will address the crowd to conclude the event around 4 P.M., just in time for fans to go to Walker Way to welcome the football team before their match-up with Nebraska.
