After losing to lowly Penn State Sunday, Northwestern is hanging on for dear life in the latest bracketology. The Wildcats are among the "Last Four In" according to a new projection from ESPN.com bracketologist Charlie Creme.
The loss to the Nittany Lions will be a glaring setback on NU's tourney resume. PSU was 4-15 coming into Sunday and 1-7 in conference play.
Didn't have a bad loss until Sunday RT @CharlieCreme: That's a game Northwestern may really regret come March. Can't lose to Penn State.— Jason Dorow (@jasondorow) January 26, 2015
The Wildcats didn't have a bad loss before falling to Penn State. Two of the teams that have defeated NU are 3 seeds (Arizona State and Iowa) in Creme's bracketology, and the others are a 7 seed (Michigan) and a 9 seed (Ohio State).
Northwestern didn't drop too far on Creme's bracket though. They retained their spot as a 12 seed and are one of eight Big Ten teams Creme still has placed in the tournament.
Here's a look at Northwestern's updated projections from several other sites:
BennettRank: 10 seed (as of Jan. 19)
