Tony Jones to play in NFLPA Collegiate Bowl

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Northwestern wide receiver Tony Jones has committed to play in the 2015 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, according to a press release from the NFL Players Association.

The game, which takes place on Jan. 17 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., is a showcase for draft-eligible players. This year's Collegiate Bowl will be the fourth annual contest, with the first being played in 2012.

The coaches this year are former NFL head coaches Mike Martz and Mike Holmgren. Last year, over 140 NFL scouts and player personel staff members attended the game.

Jones, having just completed his senior year, isn't projected to be drafted, especially after struggling with drops this season. The game will offer him an outside chance to catch somebody's eye though.

Two other Big Ten players have already committed to play in the game: Nebraska linebacker Zaire Anderson and Michigan State punter Mike Sadler.

Collegiate Bowl practices will air live on ESPNU on Jan. 14 and 15, and the game itself will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 3 p.m. CT on the 17th.
