Northwestern (5-1, 1-1 Big Ten) dropped seven spots in the Week 7 Amway Coaches Poll after a 38-0 loss at Michigan (5-1, 2-0). The Wildcats now sit at No. 21 in the poll.
Reaction from Ann Arbor
With Michigan's victory, the Wolverines were the biggest riser in the poll, moving up seven spots to No. 14. Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Ohio State (6-0, 2-0) maintained its hold on the No. 1 spot, while Michigan State (6-0, 2-0), after winning a close game at Rutgers, fell yet again. The Spartans finished at No. 4. Iowa (6-0, 2-0) moved up six spots after defeating Illinois to rise to No. 17, setting up a clash of two Top-25 teams when the Hawkeyes visit Northwestern this week.
Although Stanford (4-1, 2-0 Pac 12), the team Northwestern defeated in the season-opener, did not play this weekend, the Cardinal moved up two spots to No. 16. And Duke (5-1, 2-0 ACC), another one of Northwestern's early wins, moved into the rankings this week at No. 24.
