Northwestern bowl projection roundup, Week 8: Wildcats continue to fall

Another tough Saturday made the Wildcats fall even further back in many writers' projections.

Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

The days of Northwestern being projected by certain college football writers as a possibility for the College Football Playoff seem like ages ago and, as the losses pile up, New York for the Pinstripe Bowl is seeming more likely than Pasadena for the Rose Bowl.

Still, the Wildcats are a 5-2 power-conference team with a bunch of winnable games coming up, so there's still an outside shot they make one of the more-impressive non-Playoff bowls, like the Outback Bowl or the Foster Farms Bowl. The Big Ten West is probably out of the question but a meeting with a formidable Pac-12 or SEC foe is certainly a possibility. At this point, that's the best the Wildcats can hope for.
