Northwestern offensive lineman Adam DePietro is out for the season after undergoing surgery. Pat Fitzgerald announced the news at his weekly press conference Monday.

DePietro suffered a serious-looking lower-body injury against Eastern Illinois and had not appeared since, although he had not been ruled out for the year. However, Fitzgerald said DePietro has now undergone surgery. The head coach also added that it was "too late" for DePietro to pursue a medical redshirt.

Fitzgerald didn't go into detail on the exact type of injury or procedure the 6-foot-5, 295-pounder native underwent, but he did confirm that the Lancaster, PA native is done for the year.
