Former Northwestern Wildcats safety Ibraheim Campbell is set to make his first career start in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns. The Browns take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football tonight in Cincinnati.
Campbell was a fourth round pick of the Browns in the 2015 NFL Draft after completing a stellar four-year career at Northwestern. He entered the year as a backup, and barely saw the field over the first half of the season
Campbell will get the start in place of regular starter Donte Whitner, who suffered a concussion Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Campbell made five tackles Saturday in relief of Whitner.
The Bengals come in as one of four undefeated teams in the NFL, and Campbell will have to deal with wide receiver A.J. Green one of the premier all-around downfield threats in football. Green has already compiled 46 receptions for 649 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Bengals overall rank second in the league in offensive DVOA.
The Browns are 2-6, and will be starting backup quarterback Johnny Manziel.
