Northwestern vs. Penn State Gamethread

Fresh off an appearance in this season's first College Football Playoff rankings, No. 21 Northwestern (6-2, 2-2) hosts Penn State (7-2, 4-1) at Ryan Field in Evanston, Illinois. Sunny and just about 50 degrees with winds ranging from 15-25 miles per hour, weather shouldn't be much of a factor. The Wildcats are sporting black helmets, black tops and white pants, countering the Nittany Lions' all-white get up.

As far as actual football is concerned, this game has enormous magnitude when it comes to both teams' bowl games. As our Henry Bushnell noted earlier this week, Northwestern has an outside shot at getting a bid to a New Year's Six Bowl. While that shot might be small, both two-loss teams will be competing for spots to some of the other top-flight bowl games the Big Ten has tie-ins with. The Citrus, Outback and Holiday Bowls are all up for grabs for either program.

So if you're watching the game at home, come vent and poke fun at James Franklin's coaching decisions with us.
