Northwestern Women's Basketball Remains 12th in Week Six AP poll

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

A week after moving up to No. 12 in the AP Poll, Northwestern women's basketball (9-0) held on to the same spot after defeating Loyola Sunday afternoon.

Northwestern only played one game this week due to finals and turned in a shaky effort. While the Wildcats managed to win 81-72, that one win wasn't enough to move the Wildcats any higher up the rankings. Also, unlike last week, only one team ahead of them, Florida State, lost, and it was to No. 1 UConn. There wasn't much movement overall, as Maryland dropping to No. 6 is the only difference in the top 13.

Northwestern remains as the third-highest ranked Big Ten team behind No. 6 Maryland and No. 10 Ohio State. Northwestern's opponent this Saturday, DePaul, moved up from No. 18 to No. 16 after a close loss to No. 3 Notre Dame and a victory over No. 18 Texas A&M. A win over a very good Blue Demons squad this coming weekend could help Northwestern move up in the rankings.
