Northwestern received two votes in the Week 7 AP Poll but fell completely out of the Coaches Poll, likely thanks to a not-so-impressive win over DePaul. The Wildcats received three and seven votes in the two polls, respectively, last week.
This week, the Wildcats easily dispatched Mississippi Valley State, 78-48 and then survived a major scare at DePaul, eventually defeating the Blue Demons in overtime, 78-70.
At 10-1, Northwestern is off to its best start in four years, and with Sacred Heart and Loyola (Maryland) the only two teams on tap this week, the Wildcats should head into conference play at 12-1.
