After an impressive, undefeated start to the year, Northwestern (10-1) suffered its first loss of the year this week to a talented DePaul team and hence fell to No. 15 in the Week 7 AP Poll. The Wildcats had been ranked No. 12 and went 1-1 this week with a win over Alcorn State.
DePaul, meanwhile, dropped from No. 16 to No. 17 despite the win, as the Blue Demons had lost at South Dakota St. earlier in the week.
The Wildcats got killed on the boards against the Blue Demons and will look to improve both that and their shooting percentage as they head toward conference play. Northwestern remains the third-highest-ranked Big Ten team behind No. 6 Maryland and No. 9 Ohio State. The Wildcats have one final non-conference game against University of Missouri- Kansas City on Tuesday before opening conference play against Penn State in Happy Valley on New Year's Eve.
